Coaches Support - Professional Development

During camp, UCA will be offering classes for advisors and coaches. These classes will cover a variety of topics including, but not limited to: Crowd Leading, Spirit Raising, Developing the Athletic Skills of Cheerleading, and Being an Ambassador of your School or Program. Completion of the UCA Coaches Program or completion of all camp meetings qualifies coaches as “certified or credentialed members”, eligible for $1 Million Dollar Secondary Liability Insurance, and members of the Continuing Education Union.

Continuing Education Unit (CEU) credit is a nationally recognized measure of a sponsored activity through institutes, workshops and short courses. It is not issued on a semester or quarterly hour basis. In some states, it will apply toward pay increases, certificate renewal or in-service training. This credit is issued through the Northwestern State University of Louisiana, Division of Continuing Education. Each coach will have to contact their local school board to know if any of these options apply in their state.

The workshop is conducted at every UCA camp during the summer. The cost to acquire the credit is an additional fee over the normal coach fee for attending camp. This program includes all coaches that pay to attend camp (resident and commuter coaches).

In order to receive the credit, the coaches are required to attend all classes and Video Series meetings. Coaches must complete the CEU Registration form HERE and accompany it with a check or money order made payable to UCA. All applications for these CEU credits MUST be received in the corporate office no later than September 30, 2017. Certificates will be sent to the participants by the end 2017.
