Job Description: 
The primary function of the Cheer Coach is to assist the Spirit Groups Coordinator in the management of the MSU Spirit Groups. This includes program development, supervision of spirit group members, and coaching the cheerleading and dance programs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  1. Assist with mangement of the Mississippi State University Spirit Groups. This includes: *supervision of student cheerleaders, pom squad members, and mascots; discipline and counsel them as needed *supervise practices and training *travel with Spirit Groups to all scheduled camps, games, tournaments, and competitions *assist as necessary with transportation and lodging arrangements for camps, games, tournaments, and competitions *market the Spirit Groups program 
  2. Coach the spirit groups in the proper techniques to insure safety and compliance with regulations. 
  3. Choreograph rountines for spirit groups to enhance fan involvement at athletic events. 
  4. Supervise and develop strength and conditioning programs. 
  5. Coordinate the evaluation and selection of spirit group members. 
  6. Establish risk management initiatives and safety and accident protocols. 
  7. Assist the Spirit Groups Coordinator in supervising summer cheerleading camps. 
  8. Assist the Spirit Groups Coordinator with short- and long-range planning for the MSU Spirit Groups. 
  9. Attend conferences, seminars, and meetings as permitted for professional development. 
  10. Provide feedback regarding the safety of Recreational Sports programs, equipment, and facilities. This may be accomplished by conducting daily observations and/or by engaging in programs and using equipment and facilities. Immediately report safety concerns to the functional area director. 
  11. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Spirit Groups Coordinator or the Director of Recreational Sports.

Job Description: 
The Ohio State University is seeking qualified candidates for a 12 month position of Assistant Coach for Cheerleading. This position instructs 64 co-ed athletes in fundamentals of cheerleading; coaches technique, teaches tumbling / gymnastics in preparation for games, performances, appearances and national competitions. Assists in selection of team members and recruiting activities in compliance with conference, AACCA, NCAA, and OSU rules and regulations. Assists the head coach in the coordination of administrative areas of program management including, but not limited to, scheduling of competitions and practices, travel plans, equipment; collaborates with numerous areas of the athletic department and other campus entities. Monitors academic progress of student athletes; audits information from academic support services, ensures compliance with conference, NCAA, and University rules and regulations. Acts as an ambassador of the University; designs and implements donor relations and stewardship activities.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years coaching experience required. Candidates should have a significant understanding of and experience working with NCAA rules and regulations and a commitment to academic excellence. Candidates should have strong organizational and administrative skills as well as an ability to interact positively with staff, student-athletes, alumni, and the general public. Job Description: 
The Department of Campus Recreation at Arkansas State University-Jonesboro is seeking applications for the position of Spirit Groups Coach for the ASU Spirit groups including dance, cheer, and mascot. The Coach is responsible for administration of all areas related to the success of the women's dance and co-ed cheer leading club sports teams with expectations that the teams achieve national status and ranking annually. The coach may also teach non-credit dance, fitness and or wellness classes at the Red W.O.L.F. Center. This position is a non-exempt, 12-month annual job appointment. Salary is commensurate with experience.

General Days/Hours position will work: Days of work and work hours will vary greatly, minimum 40 hours per week.

The Spirit Groups Coach will coordinate all aspects of the Arkansas State Spirit Program including student-athlete development, home and away game athletic event travel arrangements, game day participation, practices, inventory management, recruiting, and competition in accordance with all NCAA, Conference and University regulations. The position will also coordinate all aspects of and serve as primary liaison to summer camps and summer camp attendance. Position will serve on committees such as Order of the Pack, Homecoming, and ASU Pride Day organized by the Leadership Center. Specific areas of responsibility include: implementation of club member policies and discipline, practice, event, training, strength development, and competition preparation; skill training, choreograph and teach dance and stunt routines; recruitment of prospective student-athletes; monitoring the academic progress of student-athletes; preparation and oversight of budget; coordination of spirit program community outreach; program specific and departmental fundraising; daily coordination with Campus Recreation and other duties coordinated with Athletic Department Marketing and Promotions.

Attendance at athletic events is required to monitor performance and advisement. Valid driver's license and ability to drive a University vehicle required. Position will require travel and work both evening and weekend hours regularly.

Minimum Qualifications: Oral communication and public relations skills, demonstrated participation in a successful cheerleading program. Bachelor's degree in related field required. Minimum three years of dance/cheer leading experience.

Essential Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities

Assist the Coordinator of Spirit Programs/Head Coach in all phases of the BGSU Cheer program including but not limited to, recruiting the best possible student athletes, organizing practices and games, scheduling, supervision of academic progress, public relations, and compliance with University and American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Administrators (AACCA) rules. Organize, implement and conduct practice, training, and workout procedures for the development and improvement of individual and team skills based on the AACCA regulations. Maintain appropriate records; prepare monitoring reports documenting practice activities and skills progression. Organize and plan progressive cheer practices and performances. Foster student success by maintaining contact with student services, individual faculty members and athletes to insure academic progress and reasonable graduation rates. Develop and maintain of a code of discipline and behavior in agreement with the Coordinator of Spirit Programs/Head Coach. This includes informing student participants of their rights and responsibilities related to continued participation in the cheerleading program and in the classroom. Engage in fund raising activities. Prepare and instruct program participants for the Nationals routine in years where the team received a Nationals bid.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree required. Also required one to two years' experience in the following areas; cheerleading coaching, working with students and working with parents. AACCA Certification (American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Administrators) - must have before start of employment and must be renewed every two years. CPR and First Aid Certification - must be renewed every two years. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and comply with the University's vehicle use policy.

Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of cheerleading skills, gymnastics, tumbling, co-ed stunting and all-girl stunting in a collegiate environment.
