George Washington University:
George Washington University is accepting applications for the Head Cheerleading Coach.
Overview: Our Head Cheerleading Coach will manage all facets of a co-ed cheerleading team consisting of approximately 24 students. The Head Cheerleading Coach will be responsible for teaching proper stunting, tumbling, and safety techniques. This position requires attendance at all home basketball games and selected away games, which may include some holidays and numerous evening and weekend events.
Basic Functions:
- Manage the day-to-day activities of the cheer team, dance team, and mascot squad (securing practice facilities, purchasing uniforms, scheduling physicals, requesting scholarships, etc)
- Assist with preparation for events such as (but not limited to) Colonial Invasion, Spirit Week, GW Strongman, and Regional High School Cheer Championship
- Assist team members with fund-raising activities to attend the National College Championships
- Coordinate travel for all post-season tournaments, nationals trips, and instructional summer camp activities
- Serve as a chaperone during overnight travel
- Attend weekly game day management meetings
- Attend weekly meetings with Director and dance coach to discuss team related issues and upcoming events
Coaching Functions:
- Teach, train, demonstrate, and evaluate proper cheerleading and safety techniques
- Evaluate and assure performer readiness
- Choreograph all time-out/half-time performances for men’s and women’s basketball games
- Work in concert with the Colonial Brass Pep Band to coordinate game performances between the cheer team, dance team, mascots, and band
- Attend all home basketball games for men’s and women’s basketball along with all post season tournament games
- Prepare cheer team for the national college championships
- Recruit potential student-athletes
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree required; Minimum three years competitive intercollegiate cheerleading experience required. AACCA Certification required before August 1, 2009. Demonstrated ability to choreograph integrated cheer and dance routines and teach proper safety techniques required. Advanced safety and CPR training; UCA or NCA affiliation a plus. Candidates must be creative, organized, and able to work under pressure; must have a flexible schedule. Applicants should possess exceptional interpersonal skills, be a team-oriented person with the ability to work closely with diverse student groups and administrators. Applicants must have the willingness and flexibility to work evenings and weekends as necessary.

Assistant Cheer Coach: Duties include recruiting, supervision of students, and assisting in coaching duties in addition to teaching 9 credit hours a year. Bachelor degree required, 3 years coaching/participation experience and a fundamental knowledge of cheerleading, gymnastics, and dance techniques.

University of Arizona
The University of Arizona seeks a cheerleading and mascots coach to work in conjunction with the Associate Director of Athletics for Public Relations in developing a comprehensive, non competitive cheerleading program. This is an appointed, part time, non benefits-eligible position. Emphasis is placed on excellent organizational and technical skills. Two years of coaching experience and AACCA Certification are required. This position could transition into a graduate assistantship with benefits if an individual desires to enroll in a degree-seeking post graduate program.
